Building of the 2006 Year in Bulgaria - Award for significant social realization and energy-efficient solution

Description of activities:

Design and turn-key construction works to 2 levels school building and local waste water treatment plant – 250 p.e., and artificial lake. The built-up area of the building is 9,196 m2.

The building was awarded with the prize “Building of the year 2006”. In 2010 the Bulgarian Chamber of Architects ranked the Anglo-American school as the most sustainable building in Bulgaria. The AAS has been invited by the Chamber and represented with dignity Bulgaria at the European exhibit of most sustainable buildings at Brussels.

The award was granted as a prize at the first competition for sustainable architecture initiated by the Chamber of Architects in connection with the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Architects in Europe.

In December 2006 the existing building of the AAS was awarded by the civil engineering branch as “The most ecological building of the year”.
